This is a pre-diagnostic assessment that involves identifying the underlying contributors to difficulties in fine motor skills, written expression, pencil control, spelling, grammar, punctuation, cognitive loading and organisation of written tasks.

Our OTs utilise a range of assessment tools to identify if the functional writing difficulties are indicative of Motor Based Dysgraphia. A caregiver interview may be initially conducted, followed by client assessment. A report will then be generated with an optional feedback session with the caregiver. Please allow a few weeks for our therapists to prepare this report for you.
Motor-Based Dysgraphia can only be diagnosed in individuals aged 9 and older, and requires 6 months of intervention post-initial assessment to meet diagnostic criteria.

Year 11 and 12 students completing WACE will need an updated Dysgraphia assessment if requesting special considerations for examinations. Our OTs can provide update reports and assist with SCSA applications.
